What makes your book unique?

Fairy-Tailed Wish is unique because it brings a new tradition into the family. A child makes a wish to be Fairy-Tailed on their birthday eve, then in the night the Birthday Fairies come and decorate their room with toilet paper. When they wake up their little hearts are filled with joy because they get to begin celebrating from the moment they open their eyes. The delight that fills their hearts is priceless. This story brings that tradition into their homes so they can celebrate with Fairy-Tails on their birthday’s year after year.

Who is your target market?

The target market of this book is any child that has a birthday coming up. It is a great way to start to get them excited about the upcoming day and introduce a new family tradition celebrating their birth. We started this tradition in our family at age two, but I would say the girls really started to enjoy it, and get giddy at the thought of waking up to their room covered in toilet paper tails, at age three and four. My nine-year-old still loves reading this book and making her wish to be fairy-tailed on her birthday eve!

What advice do you have to offer in support of other authors?

You can do it. Pick something you are passionate about. Because you will be spending a lot of time with the story and you really need to truly love it. Once you know it’s the one, just start writing, and get it down on paper. You can always rewrite, and rewrite again.

What is your genre of choice and why?

My genre is Children’s Picture Books. I have always loved children, as a mother, and a former nanny. . . it’s just a passion. I enjoy being around kids of all ages and seeing their faces light up when they are happy. Although I’m not on Twitter everyday, I hope someday I do check and see #FairyTailed with a picture of a happy little one in their room. That would just melt my heart.

What are your future writing endeavors? What’s next on your authorship agenda?

I do have more Fairy-Tailed books in the works. Children will get to learn more about the Birthday Fairies and what happens if they stay awake and try to see the fairies? Or do cats and dogs like Birthday Fairies?

What do you feel we need to hear or read more of, that is rare today in a book?

While I think reading is important no matter what it is, in our home, we promote reading everyday even if it is a comic book. I would love to see more books that help create memories to last a lifetime. Books that have activities that go with them that children want to read and then do over and over creating positive habits, or happy memories.

What do you hope to accomplish with your literary creation? What change or enlightenment do you want to bring about in your reader if any?

This is an easy one. As an adult you tend to forget many things from your childhood, but there will always be some strong memories that stick with you. Usually, they are ones that evoke some sort of strong or impactful emotion. Waking up to a room that was visited by the Birthday Fairy, with toilet paper tails floating everywhere, is something that made me feel very loved and special as a child.

Now, as a parent I search for ways to give joy and love to my children. I want them to feel that pure happiness, and I know if that feeling stuck with me over all these years, chances are it will stick with them too. Then, I wanted to take it a step further and see if I could put it into words and pictures so I could spread that joy into other households. Ever hopeful that this small tradition could help build family bonds making children feel loved and parents’ hearts full at the sight of their child’s pure bliss at a simple Fairy-Tailed Wish.
