DIY Halloween Crafts On A Budget: Part 1

With everything going on in the economy from Furloughs to Lay Offs and even Food Loss Benefits, it’s important to find some form of Joy in Life.  For me that is Halloween, my favorite Holiday! The sights, the horror, the humor, the CANDY and dressing up!!!!

I wish I had the budget to buy all the Halloween Decor available in the Stores that fit my Aesthetic which is generally CREEPY CUTE, but as a government employee myself, I don’t have the full luxury, so as I have always been a crafter and a creative, (and cheap) I put my skills to work.  I’m not the best admittedly, but it’s all about having FUN and Creating Something from Nothing!

Check Out My Next Article entitled: “The Crafter’s Essential Tool Box” for a list of things I always keep handy in my Crafter’s Tool Box that you may want to stock up on as a Crafter.  This is where I pulled a lot of my supplies from as in these trying times you will need to use what you have on hand to save money.

For the following crafts I simply used paint, colored pencils, puffy paint / glitter glue and old pizza boxes (otherwise trash) and painting canvas I purchased in bulk on sale at Hobby Lobby a year ago and never used. To create this Creepy Cute Baby Twin Marshmallow Man Image I simply took a deep dive into Pinterest to find the perfect image and sketched it out copy cat style and colored it in with colored pencil and used glitter puff paint for accenting the image.  This was on Canvas and Yes you totally need to put on Ray Parker Jr.’s “Ghostbusters” song to catch the full VIBE on this craft.  What goes better with marshmallows than a graham crackers and chocolate for some S’mores? Stay Puft!

Being a Child of the 80’s, I simply couldn’t resist!  SLIMER was always my favorite.  My brother and I always tuned into the Ghostbusters Cartoon in the morning faithfully with our cereal bowls in hand filled with Peanut Butter Captain Crunch (still my cereal of choice to this day…LOL).  Memories!!!

I’m an Easy Arts and Crafts kinda’ girl, always on the lookout with Pinterest to guide me on Ideas and How To’s.  It doesn’t get any easier than this, which adds more cute and creepy variety with a splash of color and humor:

Truth be told, the 80s was where it was at when it came to Horror Movies!  Next up Gizmo from Gremlins.  I actually used a cheap old ugly art piece / picture from Goodwill / Thrift Store and painted it over in black paint and added glitter glue.  Then I sketched out Gizmo on white sketch paper and colored it with colored pencil.  Then glued it to the canvas, added food stickers from Daiso and Modge-Podged it.  This I made a few years back, but it’s an easy cheap hack you can use to still Add Festive Halloween Decor to your Household on a Budget!

Pizza Box Couture Halloween Style.  Dream Big in glitter glue with Freddy Krueger Sketch and Pencil Colored Art and the Ghostly statement art piece that adds a daily reminder for those who need it!

I love Maleficent, as she has an interesting storyline, so you can’t fault her for being who she is.  So I did buy a long framed picture from Goodwill for under $7 and upcycled it by adding Dollar Tree accents to the frame to make it Halloweenesque and made a colorful painting on the reverse side of the image (which I don’t remember what it was, but it all worked out!
